TPC Stonebrae Silk Painting Class

March 13, 2015

Even our art classes are a luxury experience. The Stonebrae Silk Painting Class this Sunday is an ideal example. Learn how to paint on the most elegant of materials, silk, in the comfort of our Clubhouse. Savor a glass of mimosa or sparkling cider and indulge in a cheese sampler. This is an occasion for art that everyone can and should enjoy.

Held on Sunday, March 15, from 11AM to 3PM, the class is led by veteran art instructor and our catering director, Lesli Mack. Entitled “Art of Silk Painting,” this is a beginner’s class, crafted to teach you the fundamentals of an exquisite art form. Even those of intermediate skill can broaden their technique. The workshop gives you a great foundation to begin what we hope will be a new obsession, creating wearable and usable art.

Lesli is confident that beginners will exit the experience thrilled by the artworks they create – screens and garments that shimmer with custom designs. Instruction in many different techniques of painting on silk is provided, such as Serti, wet-on-wet, gutta, alcohol and salt techniques. The microwave steaming process is also explored. Each student will make one sun catcher and one 100% silk scarf – just in time for Mother’s Day.

All supplies are included with the $40 registration fee – along with the champagne or cider and cheese that are needed to make this a perfect Sunday experience. The class maximum is 20 students, so be certain to visit the Stonebrae event calendar to register as soon as possible. Instruction is for ages 15 and up, and is priced at $40 per person.

We hope you join Lesli this Sunday for this rare opportunity to discover an exotic art form, to express your creative side and, above all, to enjoy yourself.
