The Highlander Invitational at TPC Stonebrae

September 28, 2012

The 5th annual Highlander Invitational was held this past weekend at TPC Stonebrae. In order to participate, TPC Stonebrae Members each brought a guest of their choice to play alongside them in the most coveted tournament of the year. This year’s event was the largest to date with 39 two-man teams competing for the win. Filled with camaraderie, excitement, drama, fun and great golf – this event certainly rivaled the fun of years past.

To open the three-day tournament, a bagpiper played a traditional tune. With everyone silently listening to the echo of each bagpipe, you could easily imagine yourself being transported to Scotland!

The culinary team received a roaring round of applause for preparing several exquisite meals throughout the three-day event.

Members, like Matt and Amy Smith, were encouraged to bring their significant others to the amazing dinner on Saturday night.

On the course, one Member even managed to score a brilliant hole-in-one during the tournament. As an award, he was given a TPC Stonebrae pin flag signed by all the event participants.

By the end of the weekend, two teams were neck and neck and had to compete in a championship shootout. After the extra playoff hole, Member Jay Weil and guest Danny Lau were awarded second-place honors.

But it was Member Wes Belew and guest Mike Brannan who outlasted everyone to take home first-place honors in the 2012 Highlander!

It was an action-packed and drama-filled weekend of events and we’d like to thank everyone who came out to watch the tournament or who supported the event in any way! We couldn’t have done it without you and we look forward to seeing you next year!
