The Course
Exquisite design, outstanding conditioning and a reverence for nature are the hallmarks of truly great golf courses, and the championship layout at the PGA TOUR’s TPC San Francisco Bay is no exception.
Named by Travel + Leisure Golf “One of the Best New Golf Courses for 2007,” TPC San Francisco Bay’s par-72, 7,200-yard layout was designed by world-renowned Scottish golf course architect David McLay Kidd to blend harmoniously with its unspoiled surroundings on a ridgeline more than 1,300 feet above the East Bay. Designer of such notable courses as Bandon Dunes in Oregon and the Castle Course at St. Andrews, Kidd took full advantage of the topography’s sweeping panoramic vistas, rolling grasslands, wind-twisted oaks and lichen-glazed outcroppings to create a stunning test of golf reminiscent of the grand links-style courses of Scotland.
In a dramatic meeting of land and sea, framed by breathtaking views of Mt. Diablo and Mt. Tamalpais, the course features bent grass greens; fairways with a custom blend of colonial bent fescue grasses and natural edged bunkers; and an unpredictable breeze, contributing to both the spectacular beauty and adventure of this unique
golf gem.
