Why Golf at Stonebrae

January 5, 2017

TPC Stonebrae’s golf course, designed by David McLay Kidd, is known for its stunning views and challenging topography.

Born and raised in the Scottish lowlands, Kidd mastered his expertise as designer/project manager for Swan Golf Design and subsequently as Director of Design at Gleneagles Golf Developments, where he served as lead architect on the design of Bandon Dunes in Oregon. Today, David McLay Kidd runs DMK Golf Design Ltd. with an impressive portfolio, including St. Andrews Links’ Castle Course in Scotland, Queenwood Golf Course in England and, of course, TPC Stonebrae.

Kidd wanted the design of TPC Stonebrae to be dominated by the existing rolling hills and the amazing vistas that are almost 360 degrees in every direction, especially across the Bay and over to the city itself.

As a member, you can experience TPC Stonebrae’s PGA Tour-quality practice facility, the ideal setting for perfecting every aspect of the game in a picturesque setting. The facility features the following:

  • Year-round all-grass driving range that extends 300+ yards
  • Range balls of non-flighted Titleist NXT Tour golf balls
  • Alignment sticks and tees at each stall
  • Five target greens
  • Extensive short game area including putting green, chipping green and two practice sand bunkers
